I factor it in. It still works out much cheaper than buying it in the UK. I've bought from Vitacost before, ive got hit with VAT, but that's about it usually.

Fresh, tinned has the enzyme killed off due to the canning process.

Depends on whether the pineapple was fresh to begin with. Im pretty sure that stuff was heat treated to begin with to preserve it.

If you leave bromelain on protein it goes quite soft and starts to dissolve. Thats what meat tenderiser is usually.

Now foods Super Enzymes is what i use. From iHerb is pretty cheap. Just finished my last bottle and now using the Raw Enzyme powder i bought.

Alex, its fresh pineapple which contains bromelain, canned stuff kills the enzyme off. Also why you should be careful eating too much fresh pineapple as you stand a good chance of getting burns on your tongue!

Betaine HCL is very good if you eat a lot of protein and it is dirt cheap too from Vitacost. Country Life produces it in 250 tab bottles which each cap is 650mg. I have taken 1-2 with each meal and found digestion much better, especially with protein and fat based meals.

Mick, if you want i could happily send you 10g of the high strength enzyme powder i have here f you want to try some? You will have to dilute it to 100mg doses if you want to cap it in a 00. Should get 100 caps out of it and take one with each meal.

Thanks for the offer but it's fine thankyou :)

bromelain is found mainly in the pineapple stem.....as far as digestive enzymes go i have found nothing even remotely close to Udos Super 8. We have used this on numerous people with sometimes quite severe ibs and it works an absolute treat.
