Started going to my local hardcore gym, and dont fancy paying 2 memberships, so am looking for any Ideas on how to cancell an LA fittness gym membership early....?? they say only a note from a doctor saying you cant train.. (failing all else there any docs on here lol )

Bollocks to all that crap mate. This is what you do: cancel your direct debit, send them a letter saying you're cancelling your membership as you can't afford it any more. They'll reply with their "you signed a contract" crap. You reply with "Oh right I didn't realize I had to keep on paying that wasn't made clear to me. Any way I can't afford it". If they press the matter just refuse to pay and if it goes to court you'll get a letter from the court advising you of proceedings and asking you if there's a dispute, you just put in that you wasn't made aware of the contract and that you wouldn't have signed it if you had known. Did the same with my girlfriends gym, con artist bastards. You'll find no a days courts don't give a shit about terms and conditions and contracts and all that bullshit, stating something in small print doesn't make it legally binding. I did the same with BT now come to think of it, signed the 12 month contract ended up telling them on the phone to take me to court and I'd dispute it and they'd never get a penny. About 2 months later I got a letter confirming my account closure and I had a refund of about £1.83 as a cheque lol?

Guess thats worth a shot , although i always worry that things like that could go wrong and you end up paying all the court costs and stuff aswell as the remainder of the contract , but fairplay if you can pull stuff like that off ,

in a similar position myself with vodafone... they shafted me for a 24 month contract and its supposed to be 18 and the 50% discount on the second line isnt for the duration and i wasnt told this either , technically as i havnent signed anything i dont think its legally enforcable , but im going to ask for proof in the form of the voice recordings of the contract being taken out and me being told the above details and if they cant provide this .... then it may be time for the firestorm method

Thats poor form, my old gym cancelled my membership at a weeks notice when I knackered my shoulder/knee last year.
Doing themselves no favours.

Anyway, your doc will give you a note no bothers - just tell him the truth and he'll give you one!

Even if it does go to court you can offer to pay £1 a month if you can prove that's all you can afford. If it's for only a small amount too the court will most likely just write it off. I had a debt for about £250 + debt collector fee's which eventually got to court. I was sent the form by the court, wrote on it I could only afford £1 a month and I never heard from them again. Teresa has a lot of debt from her marriage, such as a credit card with about 6 grand on it. She offered to pay £5 a month and by law they have to accept. These banks or other places truly have no power, they ring you up giving you what for but it's only a bluff. Moneyexpert.com is a good site lets you know your rights. Debt collectors for example unless they have a court order you do not have to let them in your house. In fact if a big burly debt collector comes round you can actually press charges against the company for intimidation; not only will your debt be written off you'll also get compensation. Why do you think banks are in such shit at the moment? Giving ridiculous loans to people who have no way of paying it back, it's the banks fault and the law is on the persons side not the banks. Unless it's secured on your house you have nothing to worry about.

strap a vial of test to your forehead and get yourself round the gym a couple of times.
