Do any of you use BCAA supplements ??

and if so have you noiticed and real benefits from them ?

i currently use 1000mg tabs 3 pre workout and 3 post , tbh i couldnt honestly say if they make a huge difference but i have used them for quite some time so perhaps i've just become complacecent to the benefits i dont know....

VERY good pre fasted cardio IMO...45 mins before fasted cardio 4 g BCAA's, ECA and ur ready to go

Do think it helps prevent catabolism. No need for them pre workout and post as whey and food does that job

10g before, 10g during 15g after training

No PWO required with the above

better off

10g EAA before training
5g leucine

10g EAA during with X amount of dextrose/malto

10g EAA
5g leucine PWO with X amount of fast acting carb or ditch the carbs for glutamine peptides

The idea of PWO is 'over stressed' in comparison to what your body is doing with the food ingested pre and peri

That will cost about £1 to £1.50 which is about the same as CNP pro-recover which BTW is far inferior

(ps the above is before your other supps)

No, Its standard protocol and the determining factor is the X i have put in the equation

I have always (or in the latter years of training) decided why before what when it comes to supplement purchases. In essence 1g of BCCA in capsules form added to a chicken, egg or fish meal is pissing in the wind. Megadosing them pore, peri and PWO though have a strong influence in terms of protein synthesis in studies (much of which is documented in my journal)

It may only make 1,2,3 or 5% difference but if its that easy to do this in one aspect of your overall regimen then you are a longer way up than overlooking the finer details.

issues to consider:

It will taste like crap
be harder to mix and prep than some pre made supps
cost £1-£1.50 per day on current prices

Your cutting and bulking diet will be in place and these will be factored in as your 'amino requirements' and the only real diffrence in cutting and bulking is how you accompany them

If i were Bulking i would use around 90-100g of carbs split over 3 (THIS IS FOR ME BTW, NOT AS A BLANKET PLAN)
If I was cutting then i may even use high doses of glutamine PWO and no carbs yet having 75-100g of carbs 2 hours before training and then the pre WO BCAAs/EAAs and lecuine 10 minutes before with other supps. Peri would be the EAAs and PWO the EAAs and lecuine and creatine

meal to follow

many will think thats to OTT but if you are willing to take gear Im sure people are willing to address the finer points in their diet (or I hope they would)

Thanks some good info there Lab rat very concise ,

i know what you mean by hard to mix i've used leucine in the past and no matter what i did it just floated on the surface didnt even disolve in boiling water !

always looking for ways to fine tune my diet even though i dont have plans to complete you can never know too much , be interesting to see the meal plan ,i'll also take a look at your journal when i get a mo cheer bud

I always mixed mine wit my PWO shake of dextrose and whey, left it for an hour and it dissolved entirely into the liquid. Dextrose hid the taste. Or just use some sweetener

In essence:

A turd with cake icing on top
or
A turd without icing

Anyway, IMO nutrition around training is a job not a gourmet meal and there is plenty of time to enjoy food away from the training period
