Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to enquire if there's a company out there that may have a vacancy in their company for Summer work placement for which I might be considered. I am currently studying an Msc in Food Business in University College Cork which I will complete in June 2011 having previously completed a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) degree.

I am hardworking, self motivated and reliable. I have always worked throughout College and this work experience has provided me with concrete skills in the areas of administration, time management, attention to detail, meeting deadlines and flexibility. My academic and extra curricular activities have given me skills in management, marketing and strategic planning. My ability to work effectively under pressure has been illustrated by the fact that I worked to support myself during College, whilst retaining my extracurricular interests.

I feel that a supplement company is the type of firm in which I would like to work and that I would bring relevant skills, interests and great enthusiasm. I hope that, after reviewing my CV, you will consider me for a role within your company.

If I were your target audience reading that, I would think... is this man going to upset existing staff and is he prepared to do boring jobs?... what does he want to do, what does he expect?

And what is this Food Degree exactly, don't just expect bosses to know. l would tell potential employers how you are going to make them money. Do you understand the product, do you know the customer? If not, tell them that you want to bring your knowledge of... whatever it is and learn to make them money.

I would change to... I want to work for a supplement company. I am the target market. I love working out and this is what I want to do. etc
