Horse sauce... sorry horseradish obviously, and mustards go well. Beef also absorbs Asian flavours pretty well too - there's no shortage of Chinese dishes. For example - finely chopped lemongrass, chilli, garlic, coriander leaf, dash of sugar and fish sauce - apply to thin steak and leave for a few hours - grill to taste.

It also casseroles well, so you can make up a massive amount and make a fair few meals at a time. Braising steak is generally pretty cheap.

Some of the cheaper joints can turn out really well when marinated in red wine, leeks, carrots, onions, garlic, bay leaves, thyme etc etc and then slow-cooked in the same mixture.

I love mustard sauces and horshradish with my beef.

Let it soak up the sauces for a few hours in the fridge and then cook.

I'm a bit obsessed with Old El Passo chilli mix.

I tend to buy a few KG's of shin beef or brasing steak (very cheap cuts)

Pop in a load of fibrous veg and leave on a low temp for a few hours...

The meat falls apart and you can have rice or sweet pots with it etc.. depending on your carb requirements.

I do a large pot which I get around 300G / 400G of beef ED for 6 days.

Peppercorn sauce is quite nice with a steak.

Little bit of double cream mixed with crushed mixed peppercorns and some mushrooms.

Another vote for peppercorn.

I wouldnt eat a decent steak without it.

At the risk of sounding like a complete phillistine I quite like ketchup with steak!

I usually marinate my beef in Schwartz classic BBQ blend, and have it with sweet potatoe.

I really like mustard and it's kcal free as well, but I looooove BBQ sauce. For me, it can only be beaten by Jack Daniel's sauce, which I have to find how it's made and what it contains, as I can't find it anywhere
