Best thing is to get a gluten / wheat free mix from the supermarket and make your own. The ones that are store bought ready made tend to be somewhat weird in texture.

Is it easy to make your own ive never made bread before,do you need any special equipment?

My missus has been having problems with a bloated stomach and the gp thinks its a mild form of ibs and recommended experimenting with different foods to find out which one trigger the bloating, pasta and bread seem to be the main culprits,so thinking maybe she has an intolerance to wheat gluten.

Cheers Ares, shes a fussy sod at the best of times so if its that bad she won't eat it.

Its very easy actually and quite fun too. Just need a pair of hands and a good loaf tin (or just some baking paper if you want to make a rustic style loaf).

Most bread mixes by Dove Farms are ready to go, just add water in the correct amount and follow the instructions.

they also have a chemical sort of taste.

imo swap to rice cakes instead of bread, they can be pretty tasty with a bit of ham and cheese.

if youre going to make youre own bread all you need is an oven and a bread pan.

theres some good info here:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk..._coeliac1.shtml

you will be surprised how much stuff actually has wheat/gluten in it.

Its made with soya flour yes, but its 80% wheat bud. You cant make pure soy bread, the flour is too heavy.

Yip, this seems to be the more realistic gluten free bread around. its actually very good for sandwiches etc wheres as all the others are definately strange......they tend to need toasting before they are palitable

What mix did you get Trebor? It looks like it hasnt got enough Xanthan gum in it to hold together the starch fibres.

Run me through what you did, was the dough tacky to the touch when you finished kneading it?

Hi mate, i got some dovesfarm gluten/wheat free brand flour blend.

Recipe on the packet is:

16oz flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp quick yeast,i used allison easy bake yeast
2 tbsp sugar
11 floz warm milk
1tsp vinegar
2 eggs
6tbsp oil,i used olive oil

Mix flour,salt,sugar,yeast

In a large bowl beat in milk vinegar and eggs

Add flour and mix to a sticky dough

Continue mixing adding oil

Place dough in bread tin, cover leave for 1hr in warm area

Bake pre heated oven for 40/45 mins 220c

It was very sticky when i'd finished,it swelled up a fair bit when stood for the hour.

Any suggestions?
