UPDATE: Complete!

Hi all

On Thursday I will be moving UGM to another server and as a result the board will be offline for a significant part of the day. I can't say how long exactly as is always the case with these things it depends on how smoothly it goes.

This move will be good for UGM as we'll be able to offer more services and have a much speedier site overall. It will, however, be quite expensive to run the new server, but ultimately worth the money.

At the risk of sounding unapproachable I'd really appreciate it if people could hold back on any non-vital stuff while I'm at it and for the few days afterwards while I continue to work on things.

When it's back up I'd also be grateful if you could cut us a little slack with regard to anything not-functioning as you'd expect - there will likely be some teething troubles and I'll do by best to fix them as quickly as I can.

Indeed, and this is the sole reason why I'm going to spend countless agonising hours and sleepless nights upgrading the server - it's all just a ploy to see all of your willies.

Forgot to mention - there might be a little dip in speed for a day or so as I'm running monitoring stuff etc that wouldn't normally be there just to ensure everything is running smoothly. Depends how intense the services are - after that it should be a fair bit quicker that before, although whether you notice it is obviously largely due to your own internet connection.

Yes - just a server move not a software upgrade or anything.
